CT grew solar jobs 62% in 2013

The Solarize CT initiative has added stability and volume to the state's solar installation industry.

Connecticut added 420 new jobs in the solar manufacturing and installation sector last year, bringing total employment to more than 1,100, according to a report released by Environment Connecticut.

The study completed by the industry group The Solar Foundation looked at employment in the solar sector around the country. For the entire nation, solar employment grew 10 times faster than the rest of the economy.

Connecticut’s 1,100 solar jobs ranked the state No. 28 in the country for total solar employment. California was No. 1 while Arizona was No. 2.

The Northeast region did fare favorably, though, compared to larger states with more sunlight. New Jersey, Massachusetts, and New York were Nos. 3, 4, and 5, respectively.
