Connecticut had the second-highest housing unit foreclosure rate in the country last month, according to a new report from property data firm ATTOM, and has a top 10 rate overall in 2024.
ATTOM released its first quarter 2024 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report Thursday detailing foreclosure filings across the country and how they compare to past data. A total of 95,349 U.S. properties had foreclosure filings during the first quarter of 2024, a rate of one in every 1,478 housing units, which is up 3% from the previous quarter but down less than 1% from a year ago.
Connecticut saw 1,548 foreclosures during that span, equating to one in every 989 housing units, the seventh-highest rate in the nation.
Specific to last month, 32,878 U.S. properties had foreclosure filings in March, down less than 1% from February and down 10% from last year.
Connecticut had the second-highest foreclosure rate in the country in March, one in every 2,609 housing units, trailing just Illinois’ one in every 2,548 housing units.
