Connecticut manufacturers and their suppliers now have an easier way to connect with one another following the launch of a new state program.
Gov. Ned Lamont this week announced the launch of CONNEX, a new online service that allows manufacturers and suppliers to discover new business opportunities and connect with each other to manage supply chains.
The state’s Chief Manufacturing Officer Paul Lavoie said the goal of the program is to connect smaller suppliers with large manufacturers that need their products and services. Through the website, manufacturers can identify potential suppliers within the state based on their capabilities, not just their current production.
The search results can be filtered using hundreds of criteria such as equipment, processes, materials and certifications to meet a manufacturer’s specific needs, according to the state.
“CONNEX Connecticut will offer manufacturers the ability to post (requests for information) and (requests for qualifications) in the platform’s B2B Exchange Center to which qualified suppliers may directly respond to the posts with their capabilities and availability,” said Beatriz Gutierrez, president and CEO of CONNSTEP, a business consulting firm affiliated with the Connecticut Business & Industry Association. “These platform features will help Connecticut manufacturers find the materials and inputs they need to meet their productivity and profitability objectives, while improving supply chain optimization for downstream manufacturers as well.”
The free program is jointly managed by the state Department of Economic and Community Development’s Office of Manufacturing and CONNSTEP.
It’s funded through the state’s Manufacturing Innovation Fund.

Manufacturers that create an account prior to March 31, can use the promo code “CTFF” while registering to receive free, permanent national network access.
While CONNEX is just launching in the state, the technology was developed several years ago by i5 Services as a means to connect the U.S. manufacturing supply chain. The program is used by manufacturers and suppliers across the country.
