The Connecticut Lottery Corp. has hired a new company to operate its online and in-person sports-betting program, after Chicago-based Rush Street Interactive announced in March that it was exiting the state’s market.
Connecticut Lottery said it has partnered with Fanatics Betting and Gaming, headquartered in New York City, to replace Rush Street.
The quasi-public state agency has an eight-year contract with Fanatics Betting and Gaming, a spokesman said.
The Fanatics Sportsbook will serve as Connecticut Lottery’s exclusive sports betting provider for mobile and retail channels, including the XL Center’s newly opened facility, starting in mid-December, according to the announcement.
“Fanatics is the only true sports brand in the gaming space and has established itself as an innovator in the industry,” said Greg Smith, president and CEO of the Connecticut Lottery. “We have been impressed with the Fanatics team, their aggressive entry into the U.S. sports betting market, and we are excited to see how they redefine the sports betting customer experience here in Connecticut.”
The Fanatics Sportsbook app will be available on iOS and Android.
According to the announcement, the new online sportsbook will offer “fast signup, easy betting, transparent withdrawals, live streaming, industry leading search functionality, the ability to earn FanCash on their bets and a curated Discover page with the sports and bets that matter most to a customer.”
In addition to the mobile app, The Fanatics Sportsbook will be available at 10 retail locations in Connecticut.
Fanatics Betting and Gaming, launched in 2021, operates in Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. It also runs the only retail sportsbook inside an NFL stadium at FedExField, home of the Washington Commanders.
Fanatics Betting and Gaming is the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics Holdings Inc., a global digital sports platform.
