CT State Community College has reached an agreement that will make it easier for its graduates to continue their education at Atlanta-based Morehouse College.
Morehouse College is the only all-male African American College in the country, with prominent alumni such as Martin Luther King Jr.
The institutions signed a formal articulation agreement on Nov. 28.
Men who earn an associate degree at CT State who meet the criteria, including having a minimum GPA of 2.7, are guaranteed admission to Morehouse’s traditional and online programs.
Transfer students can enter the private liberal arts Morehouse College as juniors. Under the agreement, Morehouse will provide academic advising and enrollment support to CT State students before and during their transition.
CT State President John Maduko said the agreement helps create another pathway for its students to thrive. CT State, which encompasses Connecticut’s 12 community colleges, has about 70,000 students enrolled.
“We are grateful to be afforded the opportunity for our students to pursue a higher level of education and career advancement at the alma mater of the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other notable African Americans,” Maduko said.
