CT to give 35 communities grants for efficiency

Energize Connecticut on Wednesday will honor 35 cities and towns with grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 for an energy-saving project.

Energize Connecticut, which is a program between the state utilities and the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, is awarding the money to communities participating in the Clean Energy Communities program, pledging to be more efficient and use more renewable energy in municipal facilities.

Wednesday’s awards are the first time these Bright Idea grants have been awarded.

The honored communities will be Avon, Beacon Falls, Berlin, Bethany, Bloomfield, Bridgeport, Cornwall, Durham, Easton, East Haven, Enfield, Fairfield, Farmington, Glastonbury, Guilford, Hamden, Hartford, Madison, Mansfield, Middletown, Milford, New London, Newtown, North Haven, Orange, Portland, Somers, Southbury, Stratford, Trumbull, West Hartford, Weston, Westport, Wilton, and Woodbridge.
