This weekend marks the start of the 2024 season for the state’s two major amusement parks.
Quassy in Middlebury and Lake Compounce in Bristol will both open Saturday to kick off a new summer season.
Lake Compounce is marking its 178th season, highlighted by the refurbished historic Wildcat roller coaster along with the return of fan-favorite events like Kids Fest, Summer Concerts and Phantom Fall Fest, said Lake Compounce General Manager Doug Hemphill.
The Boulder Dash roller coaster has been upgraded with more than 1,000 feet of Titan Track, and 1846 Coffee Co. will open a kiosk at the park. Also new for the 2024 season, visitors will find more shaded seating throughout the park.
Lake Compounce is open Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Crocodile Cove Water Park opens May 25 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Quassy is celebrating its 116th season on Lake Quassapaug in Middlebury.
It features more than 20 rides, including the Wooden Warrior rollercoaster, along with a video arcade, food, and live entertainment. Water attractions such as paddle boats, lake tours, lakeside beach access and the Splashaway Bay waterpark are open during the summer months.
New this year is Deadeyes Gallery, a pirate-themed multiplayer electronic shooting gallery.
Quassy also remodeled its Fireside Pavilion for the 2024 season, which can accommodate groups of 2,000 and more.
The park at 2132 Middlebury Road, will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends only until Memorial Day, when extended dates and times are available.
