CVS Health is joining the growing ranks of states and companies offering incentives to get Americans vaccinated against COVID-19, touting prizes such as tropical vacations and tickets to next year’s Super Bowl.

The health care and retail pharmacy giant announced Thursday that, starting June 1, eligible customers who received or plan to receive a vaccination through CVS Health can enter the “#OneStepCloser” sweepstakes for a chance to win one of over 1,000 prizes through weekly drawings.

“We're grateful for the millions of people who’ve received one of the well over 17 million doses we’ve administered at CVS Health, but we have a long way to go,” said Kyu Rhee, senior vice president and chief medical officer of CVS Health. “Getting as much of the population fully vaccinated will bring us one step closer to all the things we’ve missed during the past 14 months, and keep our country moving in the right direction.”

According to CVS officials, rewards include giveaways of $500 and $5,000 in cash; 7-day cruises for two via Norwegian Cruise Lines; coupons for free Unilever products; deluxe vacations sponsored by the Bermuda Tourism Authority; free hotel stays; and tickets to this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival.

Procter & Gamble is sponsoring the Super Bowl prize, which includes two tickets to the game in Los Angeles, airfare and hotel accommodations.

All customers ages 18 and older who received a vaccination or certify that they’ve registered to receive a vaccination through CVS Health prior to the close of the contest on July 10 are eligible to enter and win.

CVS Health’s sweepstakes comes as a growing number of states turn to lotteries or similar contests to overcome lingering vaccine hesitancy among some U.S. adults. Several states, including New York and Delaware, have instituted cash prizes to encourage residents to get their shots, but the idea was notably popularized with Ohio’s $1 million Vax-a-Million lottery, and similar efforts have since been launched in California and Maryland.
