DATTCO acquires North Haven-based truck dealership

HBJ PHOTO | GARY LEWIS DATTCO President Don DeVivo said staffing shortages are one of the biggest challenges the motor-coach industry faces.

Transportation company DATTCO announced this week that it has acquired a North Haven-based truck dealership.

DATTCO, a bus and transportation company based in New Britain, acquired New England TruckMaster, a North Haven provider of light, medium and heavy-duty tow trucks and recovery vehicles. Company officials said New England TruckMaster will join DATTCO’s subsidiary network that also includes DeVivo Bus Sales, DeVivo Collision Centers, Thermo King Northeast and Northeast Tool Distributors.

Established in 2002 by Chris Lambiase, New England TruckMaster has more than 20 years of business experience in the region as a seller of Miller Industries, Century, Chevron, Holmes and Vulcan products, including towing and recovery equipment.

Lambiase will stay with the company as a senior sales representative. DATTCO officials said the acquisition will help broaden the company’s geographical reach in the Northeast.

In addition to DATTCO’s school bus division, which shuttles more than 140,000 students across Connecticut and Rhode Island daily, the company offers vehicle service, maintenance repairs, fleet management, collision repair and sales through its subsidiaries. DATTCO also operates a motor Coach & Tour Group, which supplies charter services and tours across the U.S. and intercity bus service.
