Anne Diamond, CEO of UConn Health’s John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, has been selected to lead Day Kimball Healthcare in Putnam.

Diamond, who will assume her new role as Day Kimball president and CEO at the end of August, has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, most recently for the past four years at John Dempsey.

Under her leadership, the hospital realized a positive net margin for the past two years and is on track for another positive year, according to the search committee of the board of directors. The hospital also has been recognized by the American Hospital Association as an organization improving quality at a faster rate than other hospitals nationally, they said.

She also has supported a climate of innovation at John Dempsey, forming a new collaboration between doctors, nurses and staff that decreased the average patient hospital stay from five days to four days.

Interim President and CEO Joseph Adiletta will step down in August and resume his prior role as chairman of the board of directors at Day Kimball.

“I’m ... looking forward to working with Anne, who I think brings the perfect combination of skills, values and perspective about what healthcare should be to Day Kimball and the communities we serve,” Adiletta said.

Prior to becoming CEO, Diamond was Dempsey’s chief operating officer and associate vice president of operations. Before that, she spent five years at Salem Health in Oregon.

Diamond holds an executive juris doctor degree with a concentration in health law from Concord School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from Cedar Crest College. She retains her certification as a nuclear medicine technologist and is certified as a LEAN process master. Married, she has a 17-year-old son and lives in West Hartford.
