Longtime Connecticut television news anchor Dennis House will anchor News 8 at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m, along with Ann Nyberg, replacing evening anchor Darren Kramer, who is stepping down, the station announced.
Kramer will begin working a dayshift, anchoring News 8 at 5 p.m. He said he’s adjusting his schedule to spend more time with his family.
Known as one of the state's most recognizable anchors, Kramer will continue to anchor with Nyberg for News 8 at 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. He will also file special reports.
House, who left WFSB in December 2020 after nearly three decades, will continue as co-anchor of News 8 at 6 p.m. and as host of “This Week in Connecticut with Dennis House.”
Rich Graziano, vice president and general manager of WTNH and WCT, called Kramer’s commitment “unparalleled.”
“I am happy that Darren will now be home for dinner every night,” Graziano said.
Kramer, who has been a television journalist for 35 years, said his schedule was one of the biggest challenges.
“Most of us either get up in the middle of the night or come home in the middle of the night,” Kramer said. “I have done both for years. Now, I’m thrilled to have landed a local TV news rarity.”
The new line-up will begin on May 31.
