A Unionville-based developer is proposing to build an industrial park in Farmington on a vacant lot along an industrial section of New Britain Avenue.
Richard Jones has submitted plans for Summer Sky Business Park, which show three contractor buildings with a combined nearly 40,000 square feet of space on a 4-acre parcel at 8556 New Britain Ave., adjacent to the Farmington Highway Department.
Jones is seeking a zone change, from CR to C1, along with a special permit and site plan approval. A C1 zone allows taller buildings (40 feet vs. 36 feet).
The town’s Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the application at its next meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. Monday.
Jones is the principal of Jones Construction LLC, which lists a business address of 24 Mill St. – the Unionville Post Office.
The plans show three rectangular buildings split into individual units of various sizes.
Building A totals 17,670 square feet and contains nine units; Building B totals 11,250 square feet and contains seven units; and Building C, which faces New Britain Avenue, totals 10,800 square feet and contains six units.
The site would have 88 paved parking spaces, a bay of mailboxes and a concrete pad for a dumpster.
Jones Construction purchased the property from Ponti Realty Co. in July 2021 for $340,000.
