Dr. Juanita D. Collier is the founder of 4D Vision Gym, an optometric vision therapy (VT) practice specializing in treating and empowering patients to overcome vision-related academic, athletic and occupational challenges.
Collier has also introduced new pathways to treatment by creating and launching three digital in-home vision therapy programs. As the founder and CEO of 4D Vision Gym, the largest vision therapy-only practice in Connecticut, Collier is trailblazing a path for other female entrepreneurs to grow and flourish.
What have been your biggest professional accomplishments so far?
My biggest accomplishment has been transforming how people see the world and bringing positive change to thousands of families around the U.S. 4D Vision Gym began as a small one-room operation and now has two locations, three digital platforms and a podcast called ‘It Could Be Your Eyes.’
What’s the next big goal you want to accomplish professionally?
My next goal is to promote nationwide recognition of the 4D Built to Read digital course. The program equips parents to become ‘junior vision therapists’ for their children, helping improve reading, athletic and social skills from the comfort of their own home at their own pace.
What’s one of the biggest professional challenges you’ve overcome?
The biggest challenge women in STEM face is the proverbial glass ceiling. As a Black and Hispanic woman, being good is not enough; I must be great. This pressure propels me to inspire young girls to achieve whatever they set their minds to.
Who has been your most important mentor and why?
The mentors who have had the greatest impact on me are those who pushed me beyond my perceived limits. Those mentors recognized my untapped potential and spurred me to become who I am. I now challenge my patients to exceed their own expectations.
