The Nest Schools, an early childhood education center, is launching its first Connecticut location in Simsbury.

Miami-based real estate development company Fortec will build a 15,000-square-foot, $5 million facility at 30 Hopmeadow St., in Simsbury.

Fortec recently bought the 5-acre vacant parcel for $860,000 and signed a 17-year lease with The Nest Schools.

The project recently broke ground and is expected to be completed next summer.

The school will feature six preschool, nine toddler, three infant classrooms and a natural playground.

Also, the new school will be able to accommodate up to 220 children and is expected to create 35 new jobs in the community.

The Nest Schools operates 52 facilities for infants through school-age children in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

Milford Federal provided the loan for the project. Northmarq’s Milo Spector represented Fortec in the deal.

Fortec has developed more than 300,000 square feet of commercial real estate across Florida, Massachusetts, Virginia, Washington, Georgia, Illinois, Texas and internationally. Since 2020, it has built and sold more than $150 million in commercial real estate transactions, the company said.
