A 16,772-square-foot, metal-sided industrial building on 4.6 acres of industrial land in East Granby recently sold for $1.3 million.
The 1969-vintage building and associated industrially zoned land at 6 Kripes Road had hosted Magnatech, an orbital welding equipment manufacturer dating back to 1946.
Magnatech sold earlier this year to Specialized Fabrication Equipment Group, a company founded in 2019 with the merger to two American manufacturers and one in the United Kingdom. Magnatech has since moved to a smaller space in South Windsor.
Former Magnatech principal John G. Emmerson, of Canton, is also principal of DSD Co., the company that held the real estate at 6 Kripes Road and sold it to Humdinger Development in a deed logged by the town on Oct. 31.
Humdinger’s principals are Kara and Joseph Dunlap, of Plantsville. They are also two of three principals listed in state records for South Windsor-based Atlantic Fabricating Co. Inc.
According to its website, Atlantic Fabricating is a metal-working fabrication and machining business specializing in manufacture and assembly of complete electromechanical systems. The company also offers original equipment manufacturing and spare parts for global distribution, as well as PCB services for repair and manufacture.
Attempts to reach an Atlantic representative were not immediately successful Tuesday morning.
Christian Dietz and Bob Pagani brokered the sale for both buyer and seller.
Dietz said the property was under contract about two weeks after listing and closed in about 60 days.
“It says the industrial market in Connecticut is still a robust market,” Dietz said. “When quality buildings come to market, there is still a demand for them.”
