Portland, Maine-based accounting firm BerryDunn, which recently merged with East Haven-based Burzenski & Co., is touting its expanded veterinary accounting practice with the addition of two experts in Connecticut.

The accountants – Gary Glassman and Monica Dixon Perry – work with veterinary practices to help them manage their finances.

The merger between BerryDunn and Burzenski & Co. was finalized on Dec. 1, 2024.  Previously, BerryDunn said it was attracted to Burzenski’s national reputation and more than 150 clients in the veterinary practice market.

BerryDunn took on 35 employees from Burzenski & Co., along with its East Haven office. BerryDunn had an existing Connecticut office in Glastonbury, which remains open.

Glassman and Perry both joined BerryDunn as part of the merger.

Glassman, a certified public accountant with nearly 50 years of veterinary accounting and consulting experience, is now a principal in BerryDunn's outsourced accounting practice group.

Perry, previously director of veterinary consulting services at Burzenski & Co., is now a senior manager in BerryDunn’s outsourced accounting practice group.

She has more than 38 years of experience in the field of veterinary medicine and has overseen a muilti-doctor hospital.

BerryDunn said its outsourced accounting practice group has grown more than 175% over the last three years.

Kathy Parker, principal and practice group leader, said veterinary practices are operating in an “increasingly challenging environment in which many hospitals are experiencing declining revenue.”
