Throughout 2016, HBJ published stories profiling the people, companies and industry trends shaping the current and future growth of an industry the state has bet billions of dollars on to create jobs and other economic development opportunities as well as potential cures to deadly diseases.

The series began in April, with an overview of the state's bioscience history, including's the industry's evolution and current state.

During the summer, HBJ profiled some of the established and up-and-coming bioscience companies and executives in the state, to show the breadth of talent and research that exists here.

Finally, the series concluded in December with a story exploring the bioscience industry's genesis in the state.
