Hartford is among four New England cities that will receive technical assistance in Environmental Protection Agency workshops next year, the EPA announced.
EPA officials will hold a two-day workshop in Hartford to advise better ways to reduce stormwater runoff and make streets more aesthetically pleasing. It’s not yet clear what streets the city, working with the Metropolitan District Commission, might target.
“This workshop will help us identify new ways to reduce stormwater runoff, reduce the risk of flooding, and make Hartford greener and more walkable,” Mayor Luke Bronin said in a statement.
The assistance is part of the EPA’s Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities Program.
A total of 75 municipalities applied, EPA said.
