Billed as New England’s first in-water boat show of the year, the Connecticut Spring Boat Show will return to Essex for the sixth time April 29-May 1, organizers announced this week.
More than 40 powerboat and sailboat models will be on display at Safe Harbor Essex Island, with potential buyers able to take the craft out for sea trials. In addition, 30-plus exhibitors on the lawn nearby will showcase yacht brokers, boat gear, artists, accessories and service companies.
Speakers will give talks at the event on topics including forecasts for the Gulf Stream, kayak fishing for striped bass, boat and crew optimization and preparing for the Newport to Bermuda Race.
The boat show plans to contribute 50% of ticket proceeds to a fundraiser for Sails Up 4 Cancer, a nonprofit organization supporting cancer care, education, prevention and research.
WindCheck Magazine produces the show, which is hosted by Essex Island Safe Harbor Marina. Sponsors this year include Essex Boat Works, Essex Steam Train and Riverboat, Gowrie Group and Yacht Brokers Association of America
