Eversource Energy has promoted Steve Sullivan, currently the utility’s vice president of transmission project management and construction, to a newly created post overseeing Eversource’s Connecticut operations.
Sullivan, a Connecticut resident, will become president of the Connecticut Light & Power Company effective Dec. 5, according to Eversource officials, with responsibility for overseeing electric operations and system maintenance in the state and leading the company’s storm response and resource allocation decisions with the Connecticut incident command team.
Sullivan’s staff will also include members focused on electric field operations, regulatory affairs and community affairs.
“I’m honored to lead the Connecticut operations team and eager to work directly with our highly-skilled and experienced employees to ensure the electric grid is strong and reliable, and further enhance our emergency preparedness so our customers can feel confident that when a storm comes, we’re ready to respond,” Sullivan said in a statement. “As we focus every day on our essential mission to safely and reliably serve our customers while being responsible environmental stewards, I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated employees and state leaders to advance a clean energy future that benefits all customers.”
Eversource agreed to create the post Sullivan will now fill as part of a settlement with the state over its handling of Tropical Storm Isaias during the summer of 2020. That condition was drawn up by state officials as a means of increasing local control over the Connecticut branch of the company, and was coupled with a requirement to add new seats to Eversource’s governing board for representatives from Connecticut.
