A former state mental health-addiction services staffer will pay a $3,000 penalty for allegedly using state resources for personal gain, authorities say.
Amisha Desai of Newington lost her job at the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) through a separate but related personnel action, the Office of State Ethics said Tuesday.
According to investigators, from 2010 to 2014 Desai owned and operated several private businesses, including a pair of restaurants, a package store and a hotel.
In that time, she allegedly used her state-issued computer, email and telephone to run her private ventures. She also allegedly did so on state taxpayers’ clock, and drew state wages while doing so, investigators said.
