Fairfield U. will host StartUp Showcase

Fairfield University’s Charles F. Dolan School of Business will be hosting the annual StartUp Showcase on April 18. 

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the showcase will begin at 7 p.m. The Shark Tank-style event will have five teams of students pitch their ideas to investors for seed money to start their businesses. The startup ideas include:

  • AdXR is an advertising network for brands looking to reach extended reality audiences, including augmented and virtual reality. 
  • Affluential Clothing, a streetwear clothing brand, aims to inspire others to change how they think about wealth. 
  • Copula has designed a social media platform enabling users to find places, activities and people who share interests to foster new friendships and community-building. 
  • Golden Guardian Solutions draws from personal experience and uses an AI-driven authentication system to decrease the number of senior fraud victims. 
  • Pantry+ uses AI and machine-learning technologies to read barcode data on food purchases to provide recommendations on what to purchase next to meet dietary and health goals.

The StartUp Showcase investor panel is made up of five individuals:

Joseph Bronson, principal and CEO of The Bronson Group LLC; Chris Hillock, vice president and head of portfolio development at Dell Technologies Capital; Mary Ann Rook, past president and board member of Angel Investor Forum; Padraic Kelly, an audit partner with San Francisco-based KPMG; and Ted Yang, who is the founding CEO of 4-CT, co-founder of Purple Insurance, vice president of strategy and digital marketing for Highclere Castle Spirits and president of Cantata Media.
