A Farmington-based animal pharmaceutical company has partnered with Vidium Animal Health to offer veterinarians cancer diagnosis and treatment services.

The partnership will enable Torigen Pharmaceuticals to provide advanced cancer care to dogs, cats and horses, according to a news release.

Vidium Animal Health, a subsidiary of the Translational Genomics Research Institute, has experience in veterinary cancer pathology and offers genomic diagnostic testing.

Torigen produces an experimental autologous cancer immunotherapy, a type of individualized treatment that uses the animal’s own tumor cells to create an anti-tumor immune response.

Vidium’s cancer diagnostic services will help veterinarians make a definitive cancer diagnosis.

Every year, nearly 10 million pets are diagnosed with cancer, according to the release. More than 50% of all dogs over the age of 10 die from cancer.

“The veterinary oncology industry is in desperate need of innovative solutions, and this partnership aligns diagnostics and genomics with therapeutics to provide novel treatment options for pets with cancer,” said Ashley Kalinauskas, CEO and co-founder of Torigen.

The company, which is developing a cancer vaccine for animals, has raised $7.7 million and recently signed a lease for a 9,090-square-foot building at 6 Executive Drive.
