Farmington-based WellSpark Health announced today that it would expand its headquarters and add 287 jobs over the next seven years.
The provider of corporate wellness programs currently employs 70 people at its offices at 195 Scott Swamp Rd.
State incentives are funding the expansion, with WellSpark eligible for up to $1.5 million in grants if it meets the 287-job target by 2026, and those jobs are retained for two years. Funding may be used for capital improvements, computer and production equipment, and other business-related expenses under Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development rules.
“We’re now a rapidly growing national company and we chose to stay in Connecticut for many reasons, including the top-notch talent pool of experienced professionals and new college graduates,” said WellSpark President Roberta Wachtelhausen.
“WellSpark is a homegrown company that has shown innovation and rapid growth over the last several years,” Governor Ned Lamont said in a statement announcing the expansion. “I thank the WellSpark team for their commitment to our state and their recognition that we have the climate and the resources to support long-term business growth.”
WellSpark, an affiliate of Farmington health insurer ConnectiCare, has said demand for its programs has grown during the pandemic as companies seek to promote wellness among employees.
