Raising Cane’s won zoning approval to open a location in Simsbury this week, one of the fast food chain’s first in Connecticut.
The Simsbury Zoning Commission on Monday voted unanimously 6-0 to approve an application for a special exception and site plan for Raising Cane’s proposed restaurant at 530 Bushy Hill Rd. Founded in Louisiana in 1996, Raising Cane’s specializes in chicken finger meals, according to the company’s website.
Now, the company will have to submit final plans to the town before receiving a building permit to begin work on the property.
The plans in Simsbury call for construction of a 3,284-sq.-ft. fast food restaurant with drive-thru window at the site, which is located in the southwest quadrant of the Simsbury Commons retail development, specifically in the existing parking lot between Men’s Warehouse and Santander Bank.
Raising Cane’s recently won approval to open a restaurant at 90 Elm St., in Enfield, and is currently hiring employees for that location, according to information from the company’s website.
