Wallace "Wally" Barnes, former board chair and CEO of Barnes Group Inc. died, according to the Bristol company that makes aerospace and industrial components.
Barnes worked as the company's CEO from 1977 to 1991, and board chair from 1977 to 1995, according to the Barnes Group. His son, Thomas Barnes, is the board's current chair.
“The entire Barnes Group family mourns the loss of Wally Barnes," Barnes Group CEO Patrick Dempsy said. "As an officer of the Company for 34 years, with the last 14 as Chairman and CEO, his numerous, valued contributions have made a long-lasting impact on our company."
In addition to his work at the Barnes Group, Barnes was a prolific philanthropist and community leader in Greater Hartford. He held positions leading the Bristol Boy's Club, the University of Hartford Board of Regents, in addition to serving on various corporate boards.
