Nineteen former NHL players will return to Hartford this weekend for “Whalers Alumni Weekend” at Dunkin’ Park.
Whalers alumni participating include All-Star Kevin Dineen, who will return for the second season in a row, along with Joel Quenneville, Kent Manderville, Stewart Gavin and Archie Henderson.
Fans can meet the former Whalers at a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Dunkin’ Park. For tickets, visit www.yardgoatsbaseball.com.
The luncheon will include on-field batting practice, an autograph session and a limited-edition poster. Proceeds benefit the Yard Goats Foundation.
Also, the Hartford Yard Goats, the Colorado Rockies’ Double-A Affiliate, who play their home games at Dunkin’ Park, will honor the Whalers by wearing special hockey-style jersey uniforms for their games on Friday (7:10 p.m.) and Saturday (6:10 p.m.)
Former Whalers will be honored at Saturday night’s game. Also, when the gates open at 4 p.m., there will be a pregame autograph session with the Whalers.
Tickets are available to purchase at yardgoatsbaseball.com or in-person at the Click It or Ticket Box Office at Dunkin’ Park.
Along with Dineen, Quenneville, Manderville, Gavin and Henderson, other former Whalers participating are: Andre Lacroix, Bill Bennett, Bob Crawford, Chuck Kaiton, Dan Fridgen, David Jensen, Jeff Brubaker, Mark Janssens, Norm Barnes, Paul Lawless, Scott Daniels, Wayne Babych, Yvon Corriveau and Gerry McDonald, along with special guests Mike Corrigan (LA Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins) and Mark Bousquet (Poodle from the movie “Slap Shot”).
