Former Paier College campus listed for sale

CONTRIBUTED Paier College of Art's former campus in Hamden is for sale.

The former Paier College of Art campus in Hamden is for sale, and the school’s new location in Bridgeport has been permanently shuttered.

The college’s former Hamden facility, at 20 Gorham Ave., contains 23,915 square feet of educational and commercial space on roughly 1 acre.

The campus contains four buildings and is situated just north of the New Haven border.

The listing price is $1.1 million and the broker is Amodio & Co.

Paier College closed its Hamden campus and moved to its new location at the University of Bridgeport in 2021.

The college informed the state that it had permanently closed in April, CT Insider recently reported, which was shortly after the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges withdrew its national accreditation.

Also, ACCSC denied Paier College's request to transfer the control of its accreditation. In a letter dated March 14, ACCSC said that Paier “failed to demonstrate with documentation that the school has taken substantial corrective action, has a clear plan for the continuity (of) existing students, financial soundness and administrative improvement.”

The state Office of Higher Education also denied Paier’s application to renew its certificate of authorization.

Earlier this year, Los Angeles-based nursing school Florence Education announced that it planned to acquire Paier College.
According to CT Insider, Paier recently withdrew its plans for that deal.

The property at 20 Gorham Ave. is owned by Gorham Avenue Properties LLC, which is controlled by education entrepreneur Mark Scheinberg.

Scheinberg, who founded Goodwin University in East Hartford, previously owned Paier College and Stone Academy.
