A former state representative and Lamont administration official has taken a job with a Glastonbury lobbying firm.
Graff Public Solutions announced Wednesday that James Albis will join the firm as a partner in November.
The firm’s founder and principal Kevin Graff said Albis brings legislative and executive branch experience, along with policy expertise.
Albis will work with existing clients while seeking new business opportunities in the energy, environment and cannabis sectors, he said.
Albis represented East Haven in the 99th House District from 2011 to 2019 and was co-chairman of the Environment Committee.
He also served as chair of the Screening Committee and on the Judiciary, Government Administration & Elections, Insurance & Real Estate, Banking, and Finance, Revenue & Bonding committees.
In 2019, he resigned to join the administration of Gov. Ned Lamont as senior adviser to the commissioner of energy and environmental protection.
A special election was held to fill the vacancy in the 99th District, and the district flipped to Republicans, reducing Democrats’ majority in the House from 92 to 91.
Albis went on to become director of the Office of Policy and Planning in the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Materials Management.
He currently serves as senior policy adviser to House Speaker Matt Ritter and the House Democratic Caucus.
Albis has a bachelor’s degree in economics from New York University and a master’s degree in environmental management from Yale University.
He lives in Middletown with his wife and 3-year-old son.
Graff founded Graff Public Solutions in 2011 after working as chief of staff to the Senate Democratic Caucus for five years. The firm provides lobbying, grassroots mobilization and strategic consulting services.
