To launch its new season and in partnership with the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, The Connecticut Forum announced Tuesday that former U.S. President Barack Obama will be the featured speaker at the nonprofit’s event next month.

The former Democratic president will take the stage in Hartford for “An Evening with President Barack Obama,” on Tuesday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m., at The Bushnell Performing Arts Center.

“We are honored to host President Barack Obama at The Connecticut Forum,” said Mana Zarinejad, executive director of The Connecticut Forum. “For more than three decades, The Forum has served a critical role in Connecticut — bringing people together to consider the great challenges and opportunities of our time through thoughtful discussions. In so doing, we hope to bridge the divides that exist between individuals and communities. We cannot think of a better bridgebuilder and leading global statesman to join The Forum stage than President Obama.”

According to the Forum, Obama will discuss his presidency and his work with the Obama Foundation, as well as the array of challenges the world faces and his outlook for the future.

“As the Hartford Foundation celebrates its centennial anniversary, we are proud to continue our partnership with The Connecticut Forum in welcoming President Obama to Hartford,” said Hartford Foundation President and CEO Jay Williams. “At a time when our country is experiencing so much division with many Americans losing their faith in government institutions, we hope that this conversation with President Obama will inspire all of us to think about what shared values unite us. And that working toward a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable society increases opportunity for our country to prosper.”
