Out with CVS, in with upscale dining.
A retail property in the heart of West Hartford Center, which was the former longtime home of a CVS Pharmacy that closed in September 2023, was sold this week for $5.25 million.
The 9,100-square-foot building, at 978 Farmington Ave., was purchased by Market Hospitality Group (MHG), a Newtown-based company that operates upscale restaurants in the Northeast, including Mercato in Canton and Southbury, The Wheel in Stamford and Marketplace Kitchen & Bar in Shelton.
MHG said it plans to transform the former CVS site into a new upscale restaurant, though it provided no additional information on the type of restaurant or the timetable for its opening.
The building sits on a 0.44-acre lot and is located directly adjacent to Treva, a popular Italian restaurant located at 980 Farmington Ave.
The seller was Center Equities LLC, which owned the property since 1977. Center Equities is controlled by its principal Elliott B. Pollack, an attorney at law firm Pullman Comley, state records show.
New England Retail Properties Inc., a commercial retail development and brokerage firm based in Wethersfield, brokered the sale.
The closing of the Farmington Avenue CVS reduced the number of locations in West Hartford to six.
