Four life sciences companies — MannKind Corp., Millstone Medical, ReST Therapeutics and Revalia Bio — are expanding their operations in Connecticut, with one making its U.S. debut, state officials said.

ReST Therapeutics, based in Paris, will establish its presence in the U.S. with a headquarters in New Haven, according to AdvanceCT, the state’s nonprofit business recruitment arm.

ReST makes therapies to treat complex neurological and psychiatric disorders, including Alzheimer’s and PTSD.

The company is currently in the process of raising a $7.5 million post-seed round, which it intends to invest in the state, creating six new jobs initially, AdvanceCT said.

ReST has also named Yale University Professor and Chief of Psychiatry at Yale-New Haven Hospital Dr. John Krystal to its scientific advisory board.

It’s not clear where the company will be located in New Haven.

Revalia Bio is a Yale spinoff trying to change how human clinical trials are done by using organs donated for research. The startup is expanding its operations into the Elm City Bioscience Center at 55 Church St., according to AdvanceCT.

As it raises seed funding, Revalia has committed to investing more than $10 million and creating over 15 jobs in the city, AdvanceCT said.

MannKind Corp., one of the largest pharmaceutical firms in Connecticut, designated its Danbury manufacturing and research and development facility as its new corporate headquarters in December 2021.

Its former headquarters was in the Los Angeles area.

The company added more than 50 jobs in Danbury this year to keep up with demand for its inhaled formulation treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension, AdvanceCT said.

The company has more than 260 workers already located in Danbury, and has the potential to expand its workforce as production lines for this therapeutic effort double and additional pipeline efforts progress, AdvanceCT officials said.

Medical device and pharmaceutical contract manufacturing and laboratory testing company Millstone Medical (formerly MycoScience) recently relocated into a 25,000-square-foot facility in Bloomfield that will allow the company to triple its employee count and increase service capacity by more than 400%, AdvanceCT said.

The $10 million investment in the expanded facility, which is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2024, will allow Millstone to offer a variety of new services to life sciences companies in Connecticut, AdvanceCT said.

Tim Miller, senior director of business development for the life sciences sector at AdvanceCT, said the companies were attracted to Connecticut due to the availability of research partnerships, incubator space, funding opportunities and lab space.
