Just as Gaylord Hospital staff monitors the wellbeing of its long-term patients, the hospital's wellness program monitors employees' health.
The program requires workers to complete a health risk assessment and a biometric screening. The screening tests and awards points for healthy blood pressure, glucose and waist circumference levels.
To be compliant with the program, employees have to meet two of three healthy biometric outcomes, and complete a physical examination. Those who don't meet standards are offered alternative health opportunities like weight management sessions, on-site and remote health coaching and case managements activities.
The hospital also holds online challenges, including having employees track their fruit and vegetable intake and physical activity. Gift cards are given out as rewards.
