Old Greenwich-based Shepard Insurance Group, a retail insurance broker that serves high-net-worth clients, has been acquired by Illinois-based global insurance brokerage Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
Terms of the deal, which was announced Tuesday, were not disclosed.
Shepard Insurance Group, located at 1700 East Putnam Ave., serves clients in the Northeast and Florida. Company principals Steve Shepard, who serves as chairman, and Kyle Shepard, who serves as president, and their seven-member team will remain in their current location under the direction of Brendan Gallagher, head of Gallagher's Northeast region retail property/casualty brokerage operations, the companies said.
J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., chairman and CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., said the acquisition will "expand our high-net-worth offerings in the Northeast."
Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. is a global insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting services firm headquartered in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. It provides services in approximately 130 countries through its owned operations and a network of correspondent brokers and consultants.
The company has made a number of Connecticut acquisitions in recent years, scooping up agencies in Farmington and Danbury, among other deals.
