Goodwill of Southern New England, which takes donations of clothing and household items and sells them in retail stores, is opening an expanded Branford store this month.
O,R&L Commercial LLC announced that it has completed a long-term renewal of the nonprofit’s retail lease in the Lakeview Center at 249 West Main St., Branford.
Goodwill originally took up 11,400 square feet. Under the expansion, it is occupying an additional 6,500 square feet, for a total of 17,900.
Goodwill has been at the Lakeview Center location since 2012. The newly expanded store and donation center is scheduled to reopen for business early this month.
The nonprofit’s other area retail locations have already reopened following COVID-19-related closures, according to its website, though with changes to promote safety, including the installation of clear barriers and social distancing markers and enhanced sanitizing and cleaning procedures.
The Branford store has remained closed in recent weeks, however, as Goodwill has been working on renovations to get the newly expanded space ready for customers.
Terms of the expanded Branford lease were not disclosed.
