Three Connecticut companies won contracts from the U.S. military this week totaling more than $168.6 million, according to information from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
Stratford helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., the Lockheed Martin Co. subsidiary, secured the biggest deal of the week, a $79.6 million contract from the Navy, followed by General Dynamic Electric Boat Corp. in Groton, and Moran Towing Corp. in New Canaan.
The Sikorsky contract, from Dec. 22, is for updated logistics analysis and products in support of configuration changes on the CH-53K helicopter. According to the DoD, the order also provides for the development and delivery of several products and services for the Navy and Marine Corps.
Most of the work, about 80%, will be done at Sikorsky’s sites in Connecticut, and work is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
The $71.4 million Electric Boat contract, also issued by the Navy on Dec. 22, was for lead yard support and development studies and design efforts related to Virginia Class submarines. Work for that contract is expected to be done by the end of 2025.
New Canaan’s Moran Towing won a $17.6 million contract from the Navy on Dec. 26 for harbor support services and ship handling in Norfolk, Virginia. The contract includes several optional yearlong extensions that could potentially bring the contract’s value to more than $92 million, according to information from the DoD. If all options are exercised, work will be completed by the end of 2028.
