Hartford area home sales dipped slightly in December, but that didn’t squander what was a modest increase in sales for 2019, new Realtors data shows.
There were 485 single-family home sales in Greater Hartford last month, which is two less sales compared to Dec. 2018, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors (GHAR) said Thursday.
Median price for homes sold in December rose to $240,000, up about 6.6 percent from $225,000 in the year-ago period, GHAR said.
For the year, home sales increased by nearly 1 percent to 6,541 vs. 6,482 in 2018, and median sale price climbed by about a half-percent to $245,500.
Condo sales in December soared by almost 23 percent to 145 units from 118 a year ago, and their median price also jumped 11 percent to $165,000.
In 2019, condo sales increased 2.8 percent to 1,684 and median prices were up 3 percent to $164,850.
“Overall, our housing market is in slightly better shape this year, when compared to last year,” GHAR CEO Holly Callanan said in a statement. “Pending sales are an encouraging sign for the first quarter of 2020."
