Guatemalan company agrees to buy Stamford-based maker of Juicy Juice, Sunny Delight

Michael Juliano/Hartford Business Journal Harvest Hill Beverage Co., Stamford-based owner of Juicy Juice and Sunny Delight brands, has agreed to be acquired by Camillos Hermanos, based in Guatemala.

Castillo Hermanos, a Guatemalan diversified company, has agreed to acquire Harvest Hill Beverage Co., a Stamford-based producer of Juicy Juice and Sunny Delight.

The deal’s financial terms were not disclosed.

Private equity firm Brynwood VII formed Harvest Hill, which is headquartered at 1 High Ridge Park in Stamford, in 2014 to acquire Juicy Juice from Nestle USA. It also bought Sunny Delight Beverages Co. from a private equity firm in February 2016, and merged it into Harvest Hill in May 2017.

Castillo Hermanos’ planned purchase of Harvest Hill “significantly expands” its U.S. presence and provides a platform to grow its existing U.S. business unit,” the Guatemala City-based company said.

Centerview Capital, a private investment firm, has “provided a significant investment" in the deal and will help grow Castillo Hermanos’ U.S. beverage business, the company said.

"This is a key moment in our history as we set out to meaningfully expand our reach into the U.S.," Castillo Hermanos CEO Roberto Lara said. “We look forward to working closely with Harvest Hill's experienced leadership team to unlock key growth opportunities, leveraging their manufacturing facilities, distribution network, and understanding of the beverage category in the U.S."
