A new hangar complex at Waterbury-Oxford Airport is set to open this summer, and the operator said more hangar space is available for jets.

Clay Lacy Aviation, a private jet company that runs several hangars and aircraft maintenance facilities across the country, announced this week that its newest fixed-based operation (FBO) and hangar complex will begin serving northeastern customers out of Waterbury-Oxford Airport in just a few months after construction completes.

When finished, the expansion at the airport will include 120,000 square feet of new space across three hangars equipped with 29-foot doors and floor space to accommodate larger wingspan aircraft. Clay Lacy FBO Chief Business Officer David “Buddy” Blackburn said there is still space for “super-mid, large-cabin, and ultra-long range jets” at the facility.

In a release this week, Blackburn said the company is almost done with infrastructure related to the project as it nears its summer opening. The facilities will be certified and operated carbon neutral, the company said, and include solar panels and electric vehicle and aircraft charging stations, in addition to other fuel options.

Aviation industry veteran Maria Garceau will take over as FBO General Manager for the Waterbury-Oxford facility, Clay Lacy officials said.

In addition to Waterbury-Oxford, Clay Lacy operates full-service FBOs at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, and John Wayne Airport in Orange County. The company also has aircraft maintenance centers in Los Angeles and Oxford.
