Hartford Foundation adds Gutierrez, Hines to board

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving announced this week that two public figures have joined the group’s Board of Directors: Beatriz Gutierrez and Sivan Hines.

Gutierrez is the president and CEO of CONNSTEP and Hines is the senior director of college partnerships and scholar success at Hartford Promise.

Before joining Hartford-based business consulting firm CONNSTEP, Gutierrez was executive director of business development for the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development. She has also been an adjunct professor at Central Connecticut State University.

She has a bachelor’s of science degree from Marquette University and a master’s of business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Hines, who recently moved to West Hartford, is the first senior director of college partnerships and scholar success at Hartford Promise, a college scholarship program for students in the city. Before moving to the state, Hines was a pediatrician at Wellstar Pediatric & Adolescent Center in Atlanta for more than 20 years, according to the foundation. She received her bachelor’s degree in American civilization and neuroscience, and her doctor of medicine degree from Brown University.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has awarded more than $894 million in grants to Hartford and 28 municipalities in the region since it was founded in 1925, according to the organization.
