Hartford gasoline prices down 32 cents in a month

The average price per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline at Greater Hartford stations reached $3.257 on Tuesday, a decrease of nearly 32 cents over the past month, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

One month ago, operators of Connecticut trucks and cars were paying $3.576 per gallon in Greater Hartford, roughly equivalent to what they were paying a year ago as well, $3.589 per gallon.

The decrease – which also includes a 6.5 cent per gallon drop from a week ago – is largely attributable to the fall in the price per a barrel of oil, which was $75.94. That is down from $108 per barrel in June.

Greater Hartford motorists on Tuesday were faring better than the other major metropolitan areas of the state as well. In Bridgeport, the average price per gallon of regular unleaded was $3.408; in New Haven-Meridan, it was $3.295; and in New London-Norwich, it was $3.287.
