Hartford HealthCare names top corporate executive to board

One of Hartford’s top corporate executives has joined the board of directors of the state’s second-largest health system.

Hartford HealthCare announced it has added to its board The Hartford’s Chairman and CEO Christopher Swift, as well as Fran Pastore, CEO and founder of the Women’s Business Development Council.

Swift has run The Hartford, a publicly traded property and casualty insurer that also provides group benefits and mutual funds, since 2014.

Pastore founded and has led the Women’s Business Development Council for nearly three decades. The organization provides various supports for women entrepreneurs and opened a new Hartford office last year. 

HHC is one of the state’s largest employers, with about 43,000 employees and more than 500 locations serving 185 towns and cities.

Its 14-member board of directors includes other high-profile leaders including Trinity College President Joanne Berger-Sweeney (chair); Donald Allan Jr., president and CEO of Stanley Black & Decker; Greg Barats, president and CEO of HSB Group Inc. (Hartford Steam Boiler); Quinnipiac University President Judy Olian; Gregory Butler, executive vice president and general counsel of Eversource; and Francisco Borges, a partner and co-head of secondary solutions for Ares Management, among others.
