Hartford HealthCare returns as main sponsor for Basketball Capital Pro-Am

Contributed The Basketball Capital Pro-Am summer basketball tournament returns in June.

The Greater Hartford Pro-Am, the Hartford area’s premier summer basketball tournament, will return next month to the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford for the second straight year.

Now in its 26th year, the popular tournament, which features 12 teams made up of professional and amateur players, has been officially renamed the 2024 Basketball Capital Pro-Am. It will be held this year from June 15 to Aug. 9. Admission to all games is free.

Hartford HealthCare is once again the main sponsor, after helping return the event to the Hartford area last year.

The tournament had been held for 16 years in Hartford, before being forced to relocate. It was held in Waterbury, New Britain, and eventually Middletown before returning to the Hartford area at St. Joseph in 2023.

Hall-of-Fame Jim Calhoun was scheduled to tip off this year’s season Tuesday morning along with Hartford HealthCare President & CEO Jeff Flaks and University of St. Joseph’s President Rhona Free.

In announcing the renewal of its tournament sponsorship, Hartford HealthCare said it will debut a unique new feature courtside during games — the American Heart Association’s Mobile Hands-Only CPR Kiosk.

Hartford HealthCare said it is the first health system in New England, and one of only eight nationwide, to feature the new CPR kiosk.
