Hartford nonprofit names new executive director

Hartford nonprofit Hands On Hartford has a new leader. 

Janet Bermudez has taken over as executive director following the recent retirement of longtime leader Barbara A. Shaw.

Bermudez has been deputy executive director since November 2023, when Shaw announced her plans for retirement.

Bermudez has spent 17 years at Hands On Hartford, which works to increase food security, promotes nutrition and health, and provides homelessness and housing support in the Capital City.

Hands On Hartford reported 77 employees, $5.2 million in revenue and a ­­$492,066 loss in 2023, according to its most recently available 990 financial report. It reported $7.9 million in total assets.
