Hartford schools chief sets first-day tour

Hartford Public Schools’ chief Beth Schiavino-Narvaez will lead a bus tour of several schools as thousands of local students resume full-time classes on Tuesday.

City board of education members, along with some parents and community leaders, are scheduled to join Schiavino-Narvaez for her “First Day of School Bus Tour from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., a spokesman said Friday.

The superintendant’s day will start with a 5 a.m. stop at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, 25 Ridgefield St., to assist teachers and administrators in preparing for pupils’ arrival for classes.

She then returns to Hartford Public Schools’ downtown headquarters, 960 Main St., to lead her 9 a.m. bus tour, with stops at Martin Luther King Elementary; the Academy of Engineering and Green Technology, 55 Forest St., and the Breakthrough Magnet School, 290 Brookfield Street.
