Harvard Pilgrim hires Herbert to lead CT expansion

Massachusetts’s Harvard Pilgrim Health Care has hired former Connecticare CEO Mickey Herbert as a consultant to lead its expansion into Connecticut. The non-profit health insurer filed an application last year with the Connecticut Insurance Department to get a license to start a health plan in the state. Although the application is still pending, the company is preparing to enter the Connecticut market and will use Herbert’s expertise to help with the transition. Herbert, who has most recently been serving on the board of the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange, was the former CEO of Farmington health insurer Connecticare. He is also serving as the interim executive director for the newly-formed Connecticut Health Council.
