Lovers of Haven Hot Chicken can get their favorite Nashville-style spicy chicken and sides in Orange starting in mid-June.
The business, which often has a line of customers waiting for its signature fare at its New Haven location, plans to open its second eatery in Orange on Saturday, June 18. The opening comes more than a year after the business first announced its plans to expand.
The new eatery is at 550 Boston Post Rd., Orange, in a 1,400-square-foot space. Customers can order the brand’s chicken and vegetarian options in a range of spice levels. It starts at “Country,” which has no spice, and goes up to mild, medium, hot and the extremely spicy “Haven.”
The menu features tenders, sandwiches, fries, sides and seasonal offerings. The vegetarian “Not Chicken Sandwich” is a cauliflower steak.
The grand-opening celebration on June 18 will include family-friendly activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., including a stilt walker, giveaways and face painting.
Craig Sklar, a co-founder of Haven Hot Chicken, said guests have been asking for the business to expand ever since it opened in downtown New Haven at 21 Whitney Ave. in the fall of 2020.
“It was crucial to the team that we hold off until we found the perfect location, which we absolutely did here in Orange on the Post Road,” Sklar said.
The location is in a shopping plaza, with several businesses nearby, such as Trader Joe’s and TJ Maxx.
The Haven Hot Chicken in Orange will offer curbside takeout and delivery, with limited in-house seating. It has a mural of a typical Haven Hot Chicken meal by local artist Michael DeAngelo.
