Growing eatery Haven Hot Chicken will be opening its newest location in Storrs, near the University of Connecticut main campus, on Saturday, Nov. 18.
The New Haven-born chain first announced its plans to open the Storrs restaurant in July.
Rob LaTronica, a co-founder of Haven Hot Chicken and UConn alum, said the new eatery is within walking distance of campus.
“We are counting down to our big grand opening, offering a new, delicious, convenient spot for students, staff, faculty and local area residents to grab a quick bite to eat,” LaTronica said.
The newest location will be at 1206 Storrs Road, in a 2,000-square-foot space. It will feature both curbside takeout and in-house dining. UberEats delivery and catering are also available.
The restaurant serves Nashville-style chicken tenders and sandwiches in a variety of spice levels, from “Country,” with no spice, to the very spicy “Haven.” Vegetarians can get tenders and sandwiches made from cauliflower. Fries, drinks and dessert are also on the menu.
On the first day of operation in Storrs, the chain will give away 500 tendie sliders to the first guests in line.
The Storrs location will be open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Haven Hot Chicken also has restaurants in New Haven, Orange, Norwalk and North Haven.
New eateries are also coming soon to Middletown, at 524 Main St., near the Wesleyan University campus, and Newington, at 12 Fenn Rd., near Central Connecticut State University.
