Welcome to our 2019 Book of Lists publication.

This annual issue has been beefed up with new lists, an economic forecast and our popular “5 to Watch” feature, all of which is aimed at helping inform the region's business, civic and nonprofit leaders as they plan and strategize for 2019.

As you comb through the 56 lists in this year's book, you'll also notice fact boxes and news tidbits that will provide more context to some of our lists. They highlight significant changes that occurred in our rankings and data.

In addition, prominent local and regional economists and business executives provide economic forecasts covering the real estate, health care, banking and education industries.

For a fifth straight year, we also surveyed our readers to get their insights on hiring and investment trends for the year ahead. The survey results are sprinkled throughout the publication.

We'd like to thank all of our contributors to this year's Book of Lists. Their insights will help shed light on where the region's economy is headed in 2019 and beyond.
