Here is SBA’s Small Business Person of the Year in CT

A Hebron baker has been named Small Business Person of the Year by the Small Business Administration’s Connecticut office.

Michelle Nicholson, who runs The Flour Girl Bakery was honored as part of the federal agency’s Connecticut Small Business Week 2025, which will be celebrated in April.

Other honorees include Cricket Press in West Hartford, run by Gregory Confessore, which was named as Family-Owned Small Business of the Year, and Glastonbury’s Medzah Industries, run by Rafey Zaheer, which is Manufacturer of the Year.

“This year's award winners embody the grit and determination it takes to succeed in pursuing the American Dream,” said Catherine Marx SBA’s Connecticut District Director. “Entrepreneurs and small businesses are the fabric of our communities, strengthening local economies and creating jobs, all the while contributing to our nation’s economic strength.”

Greenmont Healthcare Products in Manchester was named Microenterprise Business of the Year, while Aimee Filippetti of Never Enough Bake Shop in Mystic was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Chris Pacheco’s Seacoast Mushrooms in Stonington is Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year, and Elizabeth Calvanese’s Goggin Safety Services in Plantsville is Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year. 

This year the SBA National Small Business Week event was planned and sponsored in collaboration with the Connecticut Business & Industry Association.

The Small Business Resource Expo and award ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 8th at Woodwinds, Branford.
